Daniel Cardoso is a PhD candidate at the Freie Universität Berlin’s Graduate School of Global Politics. He holds a first degree (2006) and a Master’s degree (2009) in International Relations from the School of Economics at the University of Coimbra in Portugal.

Currently, he is a research team member of the project titled "An analysis of the One Country. Two Systems" formula: the role of Macao in China´s relations with the European Union and the Portuguese Speaking Countries", conducted at the Centre of Social Studies (CES), University of Coimbra. The project is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Portugal. His major research interests focus on China-Brazil relations, Chinese presence in Latin America, and the role of Macao in Chinese foreign policy.
