Jost Wübbeke is PhD student at the Environmental Policy Research Centre and the Graduate School of Global Politics, Free University Berlin. He obtained his Master’s degree in International Relations from the Free University Berlin and a Bachelor’s degree in East Asian Economics and Politics from the University of Bochum (Germany).

His PhD thesis deals with the sustainable development of the Chinese mineral and metals industry. Major research interests include China’s policies regarding energy, environment, minerals and metals (including steel, rare earth elements, tungsten, etc.), and climate change. He is interested in Chinese security policy, International Relations theory, the Chinese International Relations discipline, and the philosophy of science. He has been a visiting researcher at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute (Oslo) and Qinghua University (Beijing) and has been awarded a scholarship of the Heinrich-Böll-Foundation.
