Univ. Prof. Dr. Philip Kunig is the coordinator of relations with the Center of German Studies at the Beijing University and holds the chair for Public Law and International Law at the Freie Universität Berlin. Prior to this, he was appointed to professorships in Hamburg and Heidelberg. Univ.Prof. Kunig is an attorney and received his PhD from the Institute of International Affairs in Hamburg. Between 1992 and 2000, he served as a judge on the Berlin State Constitutional Court, which has supreme jurisdiction over all constitutional law cases in the federal state of Berlin. In the years 2002-2004, he was the dean of the Department of Law at the Freie Universität Berlin. His research work focuses on international law and constitutional law and parts of administrative law, as well as national and international environmental law.
