Prof. Dr. rer. pol Eberhard Sandschneider is the Otto Wolff Director of the Research Institute of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik (DGAP) and a professor for Chinese and East Asian Politics at the Freie Universität Berlin. Between 1999 and 2001, he was the managing director of the Otto Suhr Institute and from 2001 to 2003 the dean of the Department of Political and Social Science. Before joining the FU Berlin, he has been the professor for International Relations at the Johannes Gutenberg Universität in Mainz. Professor Sandschenider received his PhD from the University of Saarland. His research focuses on German Foreign Affairs, Transatlantic relations, Asian-Pacific relations, comparative transformation research and the political systems of China and Taiwan.
